It was here that Carrie White used her telekinetic powers to take revenge on her tormentors, but ended up igniting a conflagration within the gymnasium where the senior prom took place. Not everyone was caught and killed in the aftermath--some students survived, depending on either version of the story (the film or the novel's). One of those survivors was Sue Snell, Tommy Ross's girlfriend, and the one who suggested taking Carrie to the prom in her stead.
Ewen High School PromEdit
Unknown individuals poured one or two buckets of what appeared to be blood onto the top of Carrie White's head while she and Tommy Ross were on stage for the prom king and queen crowning ceremony. After members of the student body (and some of the staff) began to laugh, Carrie ran from within the gym building, only to return moments later to witness the building erupt in flames. Many say that Carrie was responsible for the fire and the deaths that resulted.
Ewen High School (2002 remake)Edit
Billy Nolan and Chris Hargensen poured a bucket of pigs' blood onto the top of Carrie White's head while she and Tommy Ross were on stage for the prom king and queen crowning ceremony. After members of the student body (and some of the staff) began to laugh, Carrie went into a shock-induced trance which ened in her hidden telekinetic powers unleashed out of pure anger and the entire building erupted in flames and everyone dead, including Tommy Ross (who had died before the massacre even began when the bucket fell on his head, mortally wounding him.) Miss Desjardin and a few others escaped that night of the fire.
Bates High School PromEdit
A bucket of pigs' blood tied to a rope was dumped onto Carrie White's head while Tommy Ross and herself were onstage for a prom king/queen ceremony at the Bates Senior Prom. While many of the students in the audience laughed at Ms. White's misfortune, said person began to cry aloud on the stage. Later, Ms. White focused once more on the onlookers, this time in a state of complete catatonia. Later, a fire hose supposedly turned itself on and began spraying down several students and staff unlucky enough to be in its path. One Norma Watson was knocked unconscious (presumed killed) after the high-impact stream hit her face. Tommy Ross was later killed when the bucket holding the blood fell onto his head. Scores of other were killed in the inferno that followed this tragic chain of events.
