Sombra is controlled by the Crimson King, rising to power in the late 1980s and fully monopolized high-tech research, development and manufacturing for an unknown length of time. It also owns the Trans Corporation, which finds and recruits young people with paranormal powers to carry out assassinations, and eventually to become Breakers. On Keystone Earth, the reign of Sombra Corporation was challenged by the Tet Corporation, which was founded by Roland Deschain and his ka-tet specifically for this purpose. The purpose of the purchase was to demolish the land and build condominiums, thus destroying the Rose and, perhaps in the process, weakening or destroying the Dark Tower, the lynchpin which held the multiverse together.
