Sherrif Alan J. Pangborn is played by Ed Harris.
He is the sheriff of Castle Rock and essentially the man who keeps the city together. He has a girlfriend. Her name is Polly Chambers, who he will marry in the future. He is the one, who with his investigations and influence is able to expose Gaunt´s machinations and make sure everyone listens driving Gaunt away at the end. Still he has to live in fear, that he will return one day and use his grandson for his evil purposes, as he told he would.
