Abagail "Mother Abagail" Freemantle lived in Hemingford Home, Nebraska. She is the main protagonist of The Stand and its film adaptation, where she is portrayed by Ruby Dee.

The StandEdit

She was a very religious woman. She was the good counterpart to Randall Flagg in the post-apocalyptic world of The Stand. After her time in the wilderness, she ordered several members of the Boulder Free Zone Committee to go to Las Vegas to stand against Flagg. However, during the time of the "Captain Trips-superflu", she was 108 years old. She died from exposure after spending several days in the wilderness.

Frannie named her daughter Abagail in honor of her.
